Year: 1986 Make: Ford Model: F-150 Trim: Lariat Engine: stock 5.0 302 Trans: AOD Chinese no-name 75mm Turbo 1996 Ford Explorer injectors MegaSquirt PNP Pro2 ECU This whole build started because the truck was having ECU issues and randomly losing injector signaling, constantly leaving my brother stranded. I took it off his hands and decided that if I was going to do an ECU that I would do an aftermarket ECU. I searched around the internet for Plug and Play options and found that it's the same ECU connector as a fox body which has a much larger aftermarket, so I was able to get a megasquirt that was designed to plug into a fox body. I've never tuned a vehicle before this, so I found a base tune online from somebody with a 302 Mustang and went from there. It's definitely still not even close to perfect but it runs reliably and makes boost. Next to install is a full xrf adjustable race suspension kit, an electric power steering pump since I had to remove the mechanical one to make room for the turbo piping, and wheels, tires and brakes. It's currently tuned to produce 5 lb of boost, and does so only at top RPM in third gear. The engine is so small and the Turbo is so oversized that it takes forever to spool, this could also be a tuning issue but that's my running theory. Total budget invested in this truck so far is less than $2,500 and I'm pretty happy with how it's going.
